Na gali People's Choice Awards 2016 rozdano w tym roku statuetki aż w 65 kategoriach. Najwięcej emocji wzbudziły nagrody przyznane takim gwiazdom, jak Britney Spears, Johnny Depp, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, czy Sandra Bullock.
Nagrodę za ulubiony film (oraz za najlepszy film akcji) dostał "Szybcy i Wściekli 7", wygrywając konkurencję z takimi hitami jak kolejna odsłona "Avengers", czy "Jurassic World". Nagrodę dla najlepszego aktora otrzymał Channing Tatum, a dla najlepszej aktorki Sandra Bullock, która pokonała Anne Hathaway, Melissę McCarthy, Meryl Streep oraz Scarlett Johansson. Najlepszym aktorem filmu akcji wybrany został Chris Hemsworth, natomiast aktorką w tej samej kategorii - Shailene Woodley. Nagroda dla filmu komediowego trafiła do twórców "Pitch Perfect 2".
Najlepszym aktorem komediowym został Kevin Hart, a aktorką Melissa McCarthy. Statuetkę otrzymał również film "Marsjanin" za najlepszy obraz dramatyczny. W tej samej kategorii, nagrodę za umiejętności aktorskie otrzymali Johnny Depp oraz Dakota Johnson. Bez zaskoczeń odbyło się natomiast przyznanie nagrody w kategorii filmów familijnych - wygrała najnowsza część przygód Minionków. Lubicie thrillery? Za najlepszy w ubiegłym roku uznano "Uprowadzona 3". Ulubionym serialem został "The Big Bang Theory".
Znamy też laureatów z kategorii komputerowych - gwiazdą YouTube został Connor Franta, najlepszą grą komputerową Super Smash Bros., gwiazdą Matt Bellassai. Zaskoczeniem była stauetka "Favorite Social Media Celebrity" dla Britney Spears.
W kategorii muzycznej Madonna otrzymała statuetkę "Favorite Music Icon". Najlepsza piosenka należy jednak do młodszego pokolenia - to “What Do You Mean?” Justina Biebera. Najlepszym albumem został natomiast "Title" Meghan Trainor. Najlepsi muzycy w swoich gatunkach muzycznych to The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Shawn Mendes oraz Fifth Harmony. Ulubioną artystką została Taylor Swift, a artystą Ed Sheeran.
