W tym roku Karl Lagerfeld w swojej międzysezonowej kolekcji Chanel Resort 2018 zabrał paryskich gości do antycznej Grecji.
Dwa lata temu Seul, rok temu Kuba, a w tym roku Karla Lagerfelda zainspirowała antyczna Grecja do stworzenia kolekcji Chanel Resort - to ukłon w stronę Coco Chanel, która zafascynowana była imperium ateńskim. W paryskiej hali Grand Palais zbudowano charakterystyczną dla tamtych czasów scenografię (kolumny jońskie, piaszczysty wybieg, masywne bloki skalne, drzewa oliwne), a na wybiegu pokazano kreacje godne bogini miłości, piękna, kwiatów, pożądania i płodności, Afrodyty. Na wybiegu po raz kolejny pojawił się także Hudson Kroenig (syn Brada Kroeniga, amerykańskiego modela, jednego z ulubieńców projektanta), którego Karl Lagerfeld jest ojcem chrzestnym.
Dyrektor kreatywny domu mody Chanel tym razem pokusił się o zaprojektowanie kolekcji prezentującej "nowoczesną mitologię", którą na paryskim wybiegu zaprezentowały między innymi współczesne bogini piękna, czyli Vittoria Ceretti, Gigi Hadid, Kiki Willems, Binx Walton, Lindsey Wixson i Amanda Sanchez. Drapowane mini togi, złote sukienki i tuniki, jednolite czy sznurowane sandały "gladiatorki" - tak według Karla powinna wyglądać współczesna grecka piękność.
"Aby stworzyć przyszłość należy zwrócić uwagę na przeszłość" - wyjaśnił Karl Lagerfeld.
